Frequently Asked

Questions

  • I am a natural-light “lifestyle” photographer, which means that I try to take photos that capture natural and authentic family interactions. I have experience working with neurodiversity, and most people feel relaxed quickly during the shoot. I do give directions on how to pose, but more often than not the clients will be looking at and interacting with each other and not staring at the camera for your more traditional posed pictures. Further, I try to use the lighting available in the environment, since this tends to help families and children feel more comfortable and allows for a more relaxed feel during the shoot.

  • I do a mix of both indoor and outdoor photo sessions. It depends on your preference, time of year, and type of shoot. For instance, most newborn session are indoors, as well as most winter sessions will be indoors. Otherwise, it depends on what you like. When scheduling your session, just let me know your preferences.

  • Luckily, I tend to be quick, with the majority of my sessions lasting less than 45 minutes. For newborn or in-home sessions I allot around 1-1.5 hours for a full session, to allow for breaks, lunch/feedings, diaper changes, or a quick play time.

  • I like to work with people as they are, and I want photos to reflect a family’s true personality. So wear what you are comfortable in. If you want a little more direction, I generally encourage coordinating outfits, instead of “matching.” I find Pinterest is a good resource for outfit choices. If you have any questions about clothing, feel free to reach out to me. I will be in contact with you in the week leading up to the session, so I can answer any questions at that time.

  • I can usually schedule a session within 1-2 months of booking, but sometimes we may need to schedule further out.

  • Yes. All photos will be available for download from an online gallery.

  • I leave it up to you. So I do have an online store where you can order prints, but you are also more than welcome to use another resource. I am always here as a resource if any questions arise.

  • At the current time I accept all major credit cards. Credit card payments can be made through my booking and scheduling site. You will be sent an invoice once we schedule a date for the shoot.

  • A 50% deposit is due at the time of booking in order to hold the date. The rest of the amount is due the week before the shoot.

  • Ideally, newborn sessions should occur within the first month of life.

  • Anytime after 30 weeks is best. I recommend scheduling early so you can get the day you want.

  • This really depends on what type of photo session you want, as well as available light. Since I am a natural light photographer, good light is a necessity. So if it is outdoors, we will likely shoot close to sunset, which changes depending on the time of year. If you want an indoor session, mid to late morning tends to be best.

  • Not regularly. I may offer mini-sessions 1-2 times a year. I recommend getting on my mailing list so you can be kept up-to-date and sign up when a mini session becomes available.

  • Fill out the form on my contact page (or click the button below) to get started! I'll email you available dates, a quote, session agreement, and invoice. Your session is confirmed once the deposit is received. Openings fill up fast, so book in advance!
